SIHL 2011-2012 Season UpdateWelcome to the start of another exciting year of SIHL hockey. We appreciate your participation and loyalty. The 2011-2012 SIHL season will include a few changes to hopefully make your experience as players, parents, and coaches more enjoyable and exciting. Please take a few minutes of your time to read our newsletter to become familiar with the changes that we have implemented. The SIHL focuses on a FUN, competitive experience. With these goals in mind, we have added the following structure to maximize your overall enjoyment. WHAT’S NEW?? Team Rosters: The 2011-2012 SIHL season will include the following change for all teams in order to stabilize team rosters and playoff seeds. Each team will be required to finalize their team roster for the season by the March tournament. Players that are listed on the roster are the only players that may compete for that team during the season, playoffs, and SIHL championships. Each listed player must participate in a minimum of 2 SIHL events during the current season on the listed team in order to be eligible for participation in the SIHL Playoffs and/or Championships. Any violation of this rule will result in the team forfeiting all games that are played with ineligible players. Once a player has registered on a team he/she may not change teams except under extraordinary circumstances. Recorded Statistics: During the 2011-2012 SIHL season, team statistics and standings will be maintained. The league goal is to use the recorded stats as a way to properly seed teams for the playoffs. Statistics that will be recorded are: Total Games Played/Wins/Losses/Ties Goals for/against Referee Info: Since the demise of USA Hockey Inline, our focus as a league is to follow the rules and certification process set in place by AAU. During the offseason all of our SIHL officials have been mandatorily certified through AAU. SIHL referees are highly regarded nationwide with some being invited to officiate at National level tournaments. Tournament Fees: The SIHL prides itself as the lower cost alternative to the other hockey tournament series that are available. In view of the present economy and in appreciation for your loyalty, the present team fees will be remain the same at $375.00. The 8-Under divisions will also remain unchanged at $300.
